Weekly Word Challenge
Sunday is here again! And we are celebrating Thanksgiving (Acción de Gracias). Our family loves Thanksgiving – it’s Christmas without the gifts and pressure. How do you celebrate Thanksgiving?
Going back to last week’s words and challenge, do you remember what they were? Find out the answers below.
Cuchillo: knife
Cuchara: spoon
Here are the fantastic responses that came in. I love the creativity! YOUPPI!
No suelo usar una cuchara y un cuchillo en la misma comida.
I don’t usually use a spoon and a knife in the same meal.
Hay una expresión en inglés – “no se lleva un cuchillo a una pelea de armas”. Eso no funcionaría con una cuchara.
There’s an English expression – “you don’t take a knife to a gunfight”. That wouldn’t work with a spoon.
La forma en que digo la diferencia entre cuchillo y cuchara es porque la palabra española para cuchillo tiene dos L que me hacen pensar en el filo del cuchillo, mientras que la palabra española para cuchara tiene una u que me recuerda a la sopa y necesitas una cuchara para la ¡sopa!
The way I say the difference between knife and spoon is because the Spanish word for knife has two L’s that make me think of the edge of the knife, while the Spanish word for spoon has a u that reminds me of soup and you need a spoon for soup!
¡Here are this week’s words!
I would like to challenge those who are thinking about responding to please respond….just try! Por favor!! Por favor!
